I almost finished B3 because of that damn F1 burning lap at the end. Hearing sirens in a game about racing fast just seems right, you know what I mean? 175 events total which is about the same as B3 so if you've finished B3, you know what to expect. I've never played B2 so I didn't know what it was like but after playing it its pretty cool. All the modes from B3 are here but Pursuit Mode makes a triumphant return. It's not really a big deal though, more like nitpicking. You kinda have to get used to it and look for the bloom. It can be very difficult to spot them at times but the developers seem to compensate for this visibility problem by increasing the bloom lighting caused by the headlights/taillights. When oncoming cars first appear in front of you they are about 2 pixels tall. NOT TRUE The main problem I have with the graphics is seeing oncoming traffic. The videos you've seen probably give you the impression that the game looks slower than the console versions. And don't worry about the sense of speed. Actually I think it helps the graphics because it gives it that extra blur that thats missing from B3 and it masks the sharpness of the environment a little bit. There is a very slight ghosting effect caused by the PSP's screen but its only noticable to the trained eye. It's not a big deal though since you're going at 150-200mph. To me they look the same on the PSP's screen except everything looks a little sharper and jagged. If you've played the B3 tracks then you know how detailed some of the scenery can be. The graphics, as every review has said, are the best the PSP currently has to offer. I prefer to use the analog stick but the dpad works well too. Whatever the config you choose, the controls are just as tight and exactly as I remember them from B3.

The 2nd config maps the gas and brake to the shoulder buttons instead of the X, Square config of B3. Yea, not much but aleast its better than B3's lack of configurations. You can choose between 2 preset configurations. Almost Here - Almost Here Tsar - Band-Girls-Money - Band-Girls-Money We Are Scientists - The Great Escape - With Love and Squalor Comeback Kid - Wake the Dead - Wake the Dead Dogs - Tuned to a Different Station - Turn Against This Land MXPX - Heard That Sound - Panic The Dead 60s - Riot Radio - The Dead 60s Yellowcard - Lights and Sounds The controls are slightly customizable. Heres the soundtrack of 21 Tracks in all. Cars are from all three games and the music I think is new to the series as well but again its been awhile. I could be wrong but I think a couple of the tracks could be from B2 or B1 but it's been a while since I've played B3 and I've never played B2 or B1. The menus, graphics, sounds and tracks are from B3. Most of the cars in each class have the same stats and make your choice of vehicle boil down to mostly aesthetic preference, but this coincides with the arcade feel of the game quite well.By Striker426 | Review Date: SeptemIf you've played Burnout 3: Takedown then you will definately feel right at home with Legends because B3 is the game in the series that Legends is most closely related to. Unfortunately, rubberbanding opponents are noticeable, especially in one-on-one races when the opponent can be right behind you after totaling their car, and the lack of a mini-map makes it difficult to know when to just restart a race. The sound effects, on the other hand, are of high quality and tie in well with the responsive, snappy controls and fast paced gameplay.

Reckless driving and taking down your opponents will award you with boost, the latter of which will increase the capacity of your boost meter.Įasily the most dated aspect of the game is the soundtrack, which would be more forgivable if it wasn’t sorely lacking in variety. There are three gameplay types: race, takedown, and crash, all of which make heavy use of satisfying collision mechanics. Burnout 3 introduces takedowns to an arcade racing formula that differentiates its gameplay from other racers like Need for Speed.
